Silja is known for her still life paintings

Her art embraces almost the whole range of still life subjects, from carefree happy florals to thought-provocing social critique. `You can tell any story using the symbolic meaning of things, and the same painting can convey as many different messages as there are interprating eyes on it` -she says.

Her paintings combine both control and chaos - a keen direct observation of the subject with playful experimental application of pastels.

She has exhibited in numerous juried, group and solo shows in Estonia, Finland, Denmark, England, France, USA, Canada, China and online, and has won many awards in the exhibitions and art competitions.

Her art has been featured in several art publications, such as Pastel Journal, Pastel World, Pratique des Arts, International Artist, and in a few Estonian and Danish art books.

She is a member of Pastel Guild of Europa, Signature Member of Pastel Society of America, and holds Master Circle status with International Association of Pastel Societies.
